SIX IMPERFECTLY PERFECT BOLLYWOOD STARS

Physical imperfections are difficult to acknowledge and in case of a celebrity it means losing on the thing that matters the most – Fame. That’s because the desire for fame is more often a search for validation of self-worth. When you are famous, you come to feel more like an ‘entity’ than the real person you once were, fixated on public evaluation.

But then there are some who not only embrace their flaws but also dare to flaunt them proudly. Let’s have a look at some of these imperfectly perfect stars who have made it big without ever going to extremes to correct them.

ONCE REJECTED, TWICE DESIRED

This world is a quaint place and people in it are totally unpredictable. Who would believe that the man who is today the heartthrob of millions all over the globe, the man who is referred as the ‘King of Bollywood’, was once rejected for being ‘ugly’?

Yes, we are talking about the one and only ‘King Khan’, the SRK of Hindi film industry. During his struggling days in Bollywood, a director had called him ugly and denied him the lead role in his film because he wanted a hero with chocolate boy looks and Shahrukh khan’s looks were more of the rugged kind. But then, he was one who never gave up. His life had been a struggle ever since his parents passed away but his will to keep pushing himself always won over his fear of failure. And that is what eventually brought him success after success till he became the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’. He now also owns a cricket team and is doing good business as well as a businessman.

We have a great lesson to learn from this man who rose from rags to riches, defying all odds and challenging even destiny with his hard work and determination. He had once quoted, “For me, I don’t need to believe in what I am doing. I need to make you believe this is who I am”. And he has definitely proved it.

All these celebrities were perfect. You know why? Because they knew they were imperfect.

We are all imperfect and full of flaws. What matters is not the commitment on the skin but on the heart.

WEIGHT FIXATION

The fixation about weight is quite common among celebs. The moment they put on a little weight, they have to take the public and media’s blunt criticism. And yet, there are some stars who are coming out confidently with their plus-size and proclaiming to be proud of it.

Vidya Balan is one such celebrity who makes you believe that the world’s sexiest women come in all shapes and sizes. This beautiful and talented actress has quite often faced censure for her ‘big size’ but managed to give befitting replies. She has inspired many women battling fat accusations, to appreciate their curves and carry them off gracefully.

BEAUTIFUL IMPERFECTION

Voted as the sexiest Asian man, Hrithik Roshan, had once quoted on his much-talked about ‘double thumb’, “God gave me a piece of ugly to carry with me to remind myself and others of how beautiful our imperfections make us”.

He never tried to hide or get his extra thumb surgically removed. Instead, he inspired many like him to embrace their imperfections and turn them in to strengths. What had once repelled people, Hrithik used in his movie ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ to highlight his bond with an alien.

GLORIFYING SCARS

A seven-inch scar running down your right arm is definitely not pretty to behold. And while men with scars have been called sexy, women with a scar is a different story. But a woman like Padma Lakshmi, an Indian by birth but today a famous American author, activist and television host, has defied all odds and gained acceptance for that seven-inch scar from a car crash she survived during her teens.

UNCONVENTIONAL CHARISMA

A Bollywood hero or heroine, is expected to have killer looks and a really good physique. But there have been some who despite their average looks made it to the top.

Ayushman Khurana has established how an average looking man with his talent can make the perception of people change. Today, thanks to actors like him, Bollywood has taken to celebrating imperfect, flawed, aged and off-track characters on the mainstream. He believes and aspires to instil confidence in the common people so that they never have complexes on seeing the manicured perfect heroes on the screen. He has rightly been called an imperfect hero and a perfect actor.

BEING NATURAL – DARK OR FAIR

We Indians have always been so fascinated by the fair color that it would be a surprise to see dark getting labeled as the superior color.

But, thanks to the dusky Bengali beauty, Kajol, who made us believe that being a shade darker or having a unibrow didn’t diminish your charm. She was always quite comfortable in her own skin and neither of her flaws stopped her from becoming one of the most successful actresses of Hindi Cinema.

All these celebrities were perfect. You know why? Because they knew they were imperfect.

We are all imperfect and full of flaws. What matters is not the commitment on the skin but on the heart.
